Heritage

"This is moving closer to the work you see
in camera clubs. I have a few minor criticisms:
my eye goes to this pattern between me and the
pit head and buildings. I also find the title in the
picture a distraction. These are just minor
weaknesses in a very, very strong picture."

Score: 19

Nostalgia for the Future

"The people are nicely placed on a third: that's great.
Do we need all that sky? Are the people actually
living there in this ancient caravan?
Is it a modern picture or a very old one?"

Score: 15

Surveillance Fishing

"There's quite a lot to look at here; a family group,
the girl doing some fishing. I love the soft colours.
A camera club person might have moved the bucket
out of the way. It does not help the arrangement of
the picture."

Hidden

"The dark sky is most appropriate, you can assume
that this crash happened in bad weather on some
occasion. The aeroplane has suffered a lot, I think.
Souvenir hunters have been along and taken bits
and pieces off. It's just sitting there for all
time on top of the moors and you get a very strong
impression of the remote locality.

So this is the picture I will give top marks to:
a very worthy winner with 20."
